【摘要】:Repointingmasonryimprovesweatherresistance,reduceswaterpenetration,maintainsstructuralandvisualintegrity,andprolongsthelifeofthebuildingbyallowingamortarjointtoshedwaterandavoidtheaccumulationandpenetrationofrainwaterbetweenmortarandmasonryunits.Thisguideprovidesfortheselectionofthemosteffectivemethodsappropriateforrepointingmasonrybaseduponthefollowingparameters:4.2.1Determinationofjointstoberepointed.4.2.2Evaluationofin-situmasonry.4.2.3Evaluationoftechniquesforremovalofmortar.4.2.4Determinationofappropriaterepointingmortar.4.2.5Selectionofrepointingmortar.4.2.6Establishingthemethodofexecutionofthework.4.2.7Visualinspectionofthework.1.1Thisguideappliesonlytoexistinghistoricmasonryconstruction.Forpurposesofthisguidehistoricmasonryisintendedtorefertobuildingsthathavesignificanthistoric,architectural,culturalorsocialmeaningandareconstructedofmasonrymaterials.Similartechniquesandevaluationshouldbeemployedfornon-historicmasonry,butarenotaddressedinthisguide.1.2Thisguideoutlinesproceduresforrepointinghistoricmasonryandisintendedtoprovideguidelinesfortheusertoestablishproject-specificrequirementsforrepointingofhistoricmasonry.1.3Thisguideonlypertainstomasonryunits:brick,terracotta,stone,caststone,andconcretebricklaidinmortar,andmayormaynotbeappropriateforothermasonryunits.1.4Thisguideaddressesrepointing(tuckpointing)asdefinedin.1.5Whenconsideringrepointing,especiallyonmasonryofartistic,architectural,cultural,orhistoricalsignificance,guidancefromaspecialistexperiencedinhistoricmasonryandrepointingshouldbesought.1.6Thisguidedoesnotaddresspointingstylesorprofilesusedonmasonryorthemethodsofproducingthem.1.7Additionalrepairsthatmayimpactthestructuralintegrityofthemasonrymaynecessitatethatastructuralstabilityanalysisbecompletedpriortotheexecutionofanywork.1.8Followingthisguidemayinvolvehazardousmaterials,operations,andequipment.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatoryrequirementspriortouse.
